After four years, a children’s museum has finally opened in Fredericksburg– the Children’s Museum of Richmond opened a satellite location in the area this May.
Proposals to get a children’s museum in the area first began in January 2010, and a separate traveling exhibit began in 2011. By the spring of 2012, the Children’s Museum of Richmond began surveying the area for a local branch of their museum, and had selected a final location by the start of 2014.
The location includes great exhibits such as a dig pit, magnet wall, and art studio, and has a great location near the University of Mary Washington off of Route 1. After the time spent to bring such a project to the area, it has been well worth it.
The location is open every day, with extended hours throughout the summer. Memberships are also available for unlimited access to the museum and its other sites across Virginia.
